The Leadership Gap I See More Than Any Other
I recently asked a group of people in my network to complete a Leadership Capacity Assessment.
Business owners.
CEOs.
Pastors.
Leaders.
Friends.
Different people from different industries but they had one thing in common. The biggest leadership gap wasn’t strategy, communication or even vision.
It was reactive leadership.
That result made me stop and think. We all have emotions, every leader does and that’s normal.
The real question is:
Who is in control?
When you lead reactively, your circumstances control your decisions.
One email changes your mood.
One difficult meeting ruins your day.
One negative comment throws you off course.
Instead of leading the moment, the moment starts leading you.
You react before you think and defend before you understand.
People notice and instead of following your leadership, they start managing your emotions.
So, Where Does This Show Up in Your Life?
If experienced leaders are struggling with reactive leadership, there is a good chance it is affecting you too.
The question isn’t if but rather where.
That’s why I created the EXPAND Leadership Capacity Assessment.
In just a few minutes, you’ll discover the biggest gap holding your leadership back.
No guessing.
No generic advice.
Just clear insight into the one area you need to EXPAND so you can lead with greater confidence, greater influence, and greater capacity.
Because your future will never grow bigger than your capacity to lead it.
It’s time to EXPAND.

Christo, I think reactive leadership is often a symptom rather than the root cause. Leaders become reactive when they lose sight of their purpose, allow external events to dictate their priorities, or operate without the time and space to think strategically. Every leader faces pressure, criticism, and uncertainty, but effective leadership is demonstrated by responding with judgment instead of emotion. The best leaders don't eliminate challenges, they develop the self-awareness and discipline to ensure their decisions are guided by principles rather than the emotion of the moment. Over time, that consistency becomes one of the strongest foundations of trust and credibility.
